DEEP GREEN RESISTANCE: FASCISM AND OPPRESSIONS WITHIN COMMUNITY GROUPS / ORGANIZING

Blog posts are the work of individual contributors, reflecting their thoughts, opinions and research.
"PRIVILEGE IS WHEN YOU THINK SOMETHING IS NOT A PROBLEM BECAUSE IT'S NOT A PROBLEM TO YOU PERSONALLY."
"PRIVILEGE IS WHEN YOU THINK SOMETHING IS NOT A PROBLEM BECAUSE IT'S NOT A PROBLEM TO YOU PERSONALLY."

The state of community organizing and activism within all communities varies, yet, one very major issue seems to connect them all together.

This is a wanton willfull ignorance towards anti oppression and intersectionality work. Somehow many feel that solidarity is something that only happens by magic and osmosis?

Whether it is how settler communities organize and connect with indigenous peoples. Whether it is how gay communities relate to the world of greedy unregulated capitalism.

Time and time again - privileged people, (we are all somewhere in the privileged scale) do not seem to challenge themselves to see anything different than normative narratives. To actually see, feel and respond to the world, and not just with their own eyes/life experience.

*This is a start of a blog that will roll out more information and life experience over the next coming days, weeks and so on.

"Until all of us are free, the few who think they are, remain tainted with enslavement."

Hi Tami

I don't know if this helps but I'm a white-trash, cis-dude-bro-skid from the sticks who was influenced by all the highly intelligent people I came in to contact with through the "activist mileu" in vancouver (for lack of a better term), people like yourself.

Much too poor for academia except reading in my spare time but all the anti-oppression/intersectionality stuff grabbed me after I got swept up in a few accountability processes. It's fascinating stuff, helped me to understand so many things and it's a shame how the contentiousness of it can be distracting because I'm grateful that people took the time.

I only comment because it seems like we spend a lot of time arguing about these things and not enough time recognizing how much thankless work people do.
