Several clans of the Wetsu'wet'en First Nation have blockaded the pathway of a proposed pipeline (actually 5 pipelines including The Northern Gateway) from the Tar Sands and tracking out to the BC coast, and have asked for activists to attend an action camp in early August to support the blockade. Organizers from the group Deep Green Resistance are traveling up the Pacific coast on a speaking tour in late July to promote the Unis'tot'en Action Camp - the site of the blockade.
The events will focus on the First Nations' fight against the Tar Sands development and colonization, as well as what it means to work in solidarity with these struggles. Speakers will include members of Deep Green Resistance and the Dakota scholar and activist Waziyatawin.
