Kinder Morgan is holding public hearings regarding its proposed $4.3-billion, 1,150-kilometre TransMountain pipeline that would nearly triple the flow of oil from Edmonton to Metro Vancouver, from 300,000 barrels per day to 750,000 barrels per day. The proposed expansion would also see massive increases in oil tanker traffic through Burrard Inlet. The project is opposed by a broad spectrum of citizens, environmental groups, and local Native communities.
