BC Premier and Liberal candidate Christy Clark is holding her major campaign fundraising dinner at Canada Place on April 8th. Some of the richest and most powerful people and corporations in BC will be inside the Premier's main fundraising dinner setting the BC Liberal election platform. Under the rule of BC's rich and powerful and well-housed for these past 11 years the housing crisis in the province has grown and deepened.
Today more than 100,000 people in BC are facing homelessness. Overrepresented in this shameful roll of poverty are families led by mothers alone; migrant people, over 50% of whom pay over half their incomes to substandard housing; Indigenous people off reserve, over 40% of whom live in poverty; as well as elders, youth, single workers, people with disabilities and health struggles. The housing crisis in BC is the open wound of inequality and injustice in the province.
Come join a community demonstration outside the Premier's fundraising dinner to shape the agenda of the BC election by peoples' needs not corporate greed.
