A Teach-in on Allyship, Solidarity, Decolonization and Action

Are you interested in supporting Indigenous struggles and being an ally?

Are you interested in understanding colonization and your role in it?

Do you have plans or interest for heading up north to attend the Unis'ot'en Spring Camp or future Indigenous led action camps?

Are you active and passionate about defending the land?

If so, please join us on April 28th for an all-day decolonization teach-in on resisting the Pacific Trails Pipeline and exploring the role of allieship. From Lekwungen and Wsanec territories, to the Unis’tot’en resistance against pipeline construction and resource extraction on Wet’suwe’ten territories, how can we, as non-Indigenous settler allies support these struggles meaningfully and stand alongside Indigenous peoples in resisting the ongoing processes of colonialism – whether that be at the Unis’tot’en camp in the spring and summer, or elsewhere?

Hereditary Chief Toghestiy of the Likhsts’amisyu Clan, Unis’tot’en Spokesperson Freda Huson, and Warrior and Teacher Mel Bazil of the Gitimt’en Clan will be joining us for this event and will share with us their stories of resistance and resilience. After which, decolonization activist Carol Bilson Araucana, Leila Darwish, and Kelsey Lavoie will lead a workshop for settlers working towards decolonization and meaningful allieship. The day will conclude with a supper to share experiences of the day’s events, along with insights and experiences from those who attended last year’s Unis’tot’en Action Camp.
