FREE ALL THE CUBAN 5 HEROES NOW!
 
September 12th, 2013 will mark 15 years that the Cuban 5 have been cruelly and unjustly held in U.S. prisons. The Cuban 5 heroes are five Cuban intelligence officers that the Cuban government sent to Miami to infiltrate US-backed right-wing terrorist organizations and prevent terrorist activities against their homeland. In 1998 the U.S. government arrested the Cuban 5 and they have faced outrageous prison sentences from 15 years to double-life plus 15 years, 17 months of solitary confinement, and the denial of family visits. Despite this, the Cuban 5 heroes have never for one moment given up their struggle for dignity and freedom and have always declared their innocence.
 
*NEW YELLOW RIBBON CAMPAIGN*
 
In June of 2013, René González, one of the Cuban 5 returned to Cuba. It is with this great victory, and the commitment of people all over the world to fight until the 4 remaining Cuban heroes are free from U.S. jails, that we  mark the 15 years since their arrest and imprisonment. 
 
From his home in Cuba, René González has launched a new Yellow Ribbon campaign for the Cuban 5 heroes. René has asked the people of Cuba to saturate the island with yellow ribbons, as a symbol of their desire to see all of their 5 heroes return. The Free the Cuban 5 Committee - Vancouver and supporters of the Cuban 5 are bringing the Yellow Ribbon campaign to the streets of British Columbia. As René has said, "My desire is that on September 12 yellow ribbons will appear in trees, on balconies, on people's arms, on their pets or however they want to display it."

In British Columbia, Canada the Free the Cuban 5 Committee-Vancouver, together and in unity with other Cuba solidarity activists, groups, and supporters of the Cuban 5 heroes in Nanaimo, Kamloops, Bowen Island, and greater Vancouver, invite you to join with us for 6 events in 4 cities for our 5 heroes from September 12 -15. On these days, our united voices will be echoed in British Columbia, Cuba, the United States and all around the world as we tie yellow ribbons and protest this anniversary, demanding immediate freedom for Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando González.

El 12 de septiembre de 2013 se cumplirán 15 años desde que los Cinco cubanos fueran injustamente hechos prisioneros en cárceles de Estados Unidos. Los Cinco Héroes cubanos son cinco agentes de inteligencia que el gobierno cubano envió a Miami para infiltrar organizaciones terroristas de ultraderecha apoyadas por Estados Unidos, e impedir actividades terroristas contra su patria. En 1998, el gobierno estadounidense arrestó a los Cinco Cubanos y les condenó a escandalosas sentencias desde 15 años hasta doble cadena perpetua más 15 años, 17 meses de confinamiento en solitario y la denegación de visitas familiares. A pesar de esto, los Cinco Héroes Cubanos no han dejado, ni siquiera por un instante, de luchar por la dignidad y la libertad, y siempre han declarado su inocencia.
 
*EL NUEVA CAMPAÑA DE CINTAS AMARILLAS*
 
En junio de 2013, René González, uno de los Cinco, regresó a Cuba. Es con esta gran victoria y el compromiso de personas de todo el mundo de luchar hasta que los cuatro héroes que permanecen en prisión sean liberados de cárceles norteamericanas, que llegamos a este 15 aniversario desde su arresto y encarcelamiento.
 
Desde su casa en Cuba, René González ha iniciado una nueva campaña de la cintas amarillas para los 5 héroes cubanos. René ha pedido al pueblo de Cuba para llenar la isla con cintas amarillas, como símbolo de su deseo de ver a todos sus 5 héroes regreso. El Comité de Vancouver por la Liberación de los Cinco y y los activistas por los 5 Cubanos están llevando la campaña de las cintas amarillas a las calles de Columbia Británica. Como René ha dicho,"Que ese día la Isla de Cuba se sacuda y aparezcan cintas amarillas en los árboles, en los balcones, en las personas, como quiera que se les ocurra usarlas, en las mascotas, como ustedes lo decidan, que esas cintas amarillas llenen al país"
