Human impacts define the Anthropocene as a unique time in Earth’s history & these impacts are likely to increase as the population grows to 9 billion by the year 2050. Studies show that some of these impacts pose serious risks for maintaining the quality of life. Despite the ‘gloom-and-doom’ scenarios these global problems often engender, solutions are not only possible, as indicated by past achievements, but are beginning to gain momentum.
