We're moving - and we need your help!
Saturday, May 24th, is the big day. We need folks who can spare some time & energy - and vehicles, if you've got 'em! - to join us in schlepping boxes of books, shelving, store furniture, etc., from the old to the new location.
As a non-profit, collectively-run radical bookstore and community space, we've always relied on willing volunteers - and it's going to take a lot of pairs of hands to make this happen, so much appreciation if folks can come on down on the 24th to help with the physical move, with ferrying stuff from our soon-to-be 'old' location to the 'new', with coordinating our collective efforts, and so on.
We'll have food to keep everybody fueled for the move, and expect to keep up the effort - and a festive 'work party' atmosphere - from early 'til late.
8am onwards: meet at 684 E Hastings (the 'old' store)
9am onwards: meet at 3378 Findlay (the 'new' store)
The new location, for those who have yet to hear, is right at the intersection of Commercial Drive & 18th Avenue: 3378 Findlay Street is just under the SkyTrain track and right beside the Croatian Cultural Centre.
If you'd like to help us out with our move, but can't make it on the 24th, we'll need extra hands in the days leading up to the weekend of the 24th, and in the days following.
In addition to all the fun of packing up and unpacking the whole store, we also need help with the following over the next little while:
* Helping with removal of a small wall & doorframe
* Help moving a bathroom sink
* Installing wall mounted shelving
* Installing a projector screen on the ceiling.
* Mounting a projector on the ceiling.
* Installing speakers & speaker wiring
* Running computer computer cables.
* and more!?!?
As always, we're also eager to hear from would-be volunteers interested in getting involved with Spartacus in a long-term way!
