In May 2013, mass protests in Turkey were sparked by the government plans to demolish Taksim Gezi Park and replace it with developments including a shopping mall. The protests quickly spread and gave voice to the growing opposition against the pro-imperialist Erdogan government, a close ally of the United States.

One year on anti-government protests are continuing throughout Turkey. Join this forum to discuss:

~ What are the demands of the protesters at Gezi Park and throughout Turkey?

~ Why have the Gezi Park protests become an ongoing struggle against Prime Minister Erdogan’s undemocratic policies?

~ How is the Turkish government aiding in imperialist wars and occupation?

~ What is the role of the social justice movement in Canada and abroad to support the protestors in Turkey?
