September 12th, 2014 marks another year of unjust U.S. imprisonment of the 5 Cuban Heroes. The last 16 years have seen ever growing support and activities for the 5 Cuban Heroes around the world. Although two of the five, René and Fernando, have completed their sentences and returned to Cuba, they have vowed that they will not be free until ALL 5 heroes are free, we echo them in this call! We must take a stand for freedom for the remaining three, Gerardo, Antonio and Ramon! Let us use this 16 years of injustice to unite in Vancouver, across Canada and around the world to demand the immediate freedom of ALL 5 heroes.
The Free the Cuban 5 Committee-Vancouver would like to ask for your support and for you to join with us to make this 16th anniversary the last that our 5 heroes spend apart and locked behind U.S prison bars. Together we will free ALL the Cuban 5!
Conference will be held in English with translation into Spanish available!

September 12, 2014 will mark 16 years of injustice against 5 Cubans held in US jails. While René González and Fernando González are free and in Cuba with their families, both served more than 13 years in US prisons, despite their innocence. Their 3 brothers, Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero and Ramon Labañino remain imprisoned in the US, while the world demands their freedom.
The Free the Cuban 5 Committee – Vancouver, in partnership with Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba (VCSC) & the Seattle Cuba Friendship Committee are calling for people across Canada and the US to write poetry for the Cuban 5 on this 16th anniversary of injustice. Poems received before September 8, 2014 will be included in a new booklet of poems and songs for the 5! All authors will be invited to read their creations at events on September 12 & 13, 2014 taking place in Seattle and Vancouver. We encourage poems to be written in all languages for this international effort!

El 12 de septiembre de 2014 marca otro año de injusto encarcelamiento de los Cinco Héroes Cubanos. Los últimos 16 años han visto un creciente apoyo y actividades en favor de los Cinco Héroes Cubanos en todo el mundo. Aunque dos de los cinco, René y Fernando, han completado sus sentencias y han regresado a Cuba, han jurado que no serán completamente libreas hasta que TODOS los Cinco Héroes estén libres, ¡nos hacemos eco de ellos en este llamado! ¡Debemos tomar una posición por la libertad de los tres que quedan, Gerardo, Antonio y Ramón! Utilicemos estos 16 años de injusticia para unirnos en
Vancouver, por todo Canadá y por todo el mundo para exigir la inmediata liberación de TODOS los Cinco Héroes. El Comité de Vancouver por la Liberación de los Cinco quisiera pedir su apoyo y que se unan a nosotros para hacer que este 16to aniversario el último que nuestros cinco héroes pasan apartados y encerrados tras las rejas en Estados Unidos. ¡Juntos, liberaremos a TODOS los Cinco Héroes!

El 12 de septiembre de 2014 marcará 16 años de injusticia contra los Cinco Cubanos encarcelados en prisiones de Estados Unidos. Aunque René González y Fernando González están libres en Cuba con sus familias, ambos cumplieron más de 13 años en prisiones norteamericanas, a pesar de su inocencia. Sus tres hermanos, Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero y Ramón Labañino se mantienen encarcelados en los Estados Unidos, mientras el mundo exige su liberación.
El Comité de Vancouver por la Liberación de los Cinco, junto a las Comunidades de Vancouver en Solidaridad con Cuba (VCSC) y el Comité de Amistad Seattle-Cuba están convocando a las personas de Canadá y los Estados Unidos a escribir un poema por los Cinco Cubanos en el 16 aniversario de injusticia. ¡Los poemas recibidos antes del 8 de septiembre de 2014 serán incluidos en un nuevo libreto de poemas y canciones por los Cinco! Todos los autores serán invitados a leer sus creaciones en eventos el 12 y el 13 de septiembre de 2014 que tendrán lugar en Seattle y Vancouver. ¡Alentamos que todos los poemas sean escrito en todos los idiomas posibles para tener un mayor alcance internacional!
