VICTORY FOR HUMAN RIGHTS!
FREEDOM OF THE CUBAN 5!

¡VOLVIERON!
THEY HAVE RETURNED!

Cultural Celebration for the Return of ALL 5 Cuban Heroes!
MONDAY JANUARY 5, 2014
7PM
Joe's Cafe (Large North Hall)
1150 Commercial Dr.
Vancouver, Canada

Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González
and René González, also known as the Cuban 5, are five men who were
wrongly accused and convicted in a U.S. Federal Court of “conspiracy
to commit espionage” and other fabricated charges, following their
arrest and imprisonment in 1998.

The 5 were actually unarmed men involved in monitoring Miami-based
terrorist organizations, which since 1959 have been responsible for
the deaths of over 3,400 people in Cuba, including one resident of
Canada, Fabio di Celmo, in 1997. Through their important work, these 5
men were able to prevent hundreds of further deaths in Cuba.

René González and Fernando González both returned to Cuba after
serving the totality of their respective 13 and 15 year unjust prison
sentences, and immediately became tireless leaders of the growing
international movement demanding the release of their three brothers
remaining behind prison bars. The movement included people from around
the world, Nobel Prize winners, renowned artists and scientists,
intellectuals and dozens of parliamentarians from around the world.

On December 17th, 2014 ALL of the Cuban 5 Heroes returned victoriously
to Cuba! Ramón, Antonio and Gerardo joined Fernando and René and were
finally reunited with their families and the people of Cuba, after
spending over 16 years held unjustly in U.S. prisons for defending
Cuba against U.S.-backed terrorism in their country.

The return of all of the Cuban 5 to Cuba is an enormous historic
victory not only for the Cuban people but also a great victory for
human rights and for people around the world who have united with
Cuban people to organize and win their freedom!

Join the Free the Cuban 5 Committee - Vancouver for a celebration of
this historic victory for freedom and human rights. We, the Free the
Cuban 5 Committee – Vancouver feel strongly as part of this
international movement. For 110 times we have been in front of the
U.S. Consulate in Vancouver, demanding, and now celebrating, the
freedom of the Cuban 5 Heroes.

Our weekly and monthly consistent work in the form of pickets, forums,
vigils, petitioning, poetry nights, cultural events, bike rides,
speaking tours and other activities have inspired others around the
world to begin and continue organizing for the now victorious freedom
of the Cuban 5 Heroes.

The celebration will include live music, poetry, documentary films and
special messages from Cuba and beyond!
