DR. JOSÉ DE JESÚS PORTILLA
Chief of Cuba’s medical personnel during Cuba’s international mission in the former Republic of Congo, Head of the Department of Health for the province of Havana and Director of the Department of Bilateral Collaboration in the Ministry of Public Health

As West African countries were battered by one of the most critical and devastating outbreaks in recent history, help and solidarity became necessary. The immense outbreak of Ebola had to be met with immense contributions to combat it. Cuba with its professional and experienced international medical missions quickly rose to the greatest involvement in the fight against Ebola.

It did not take long after Cuba’s 450 medical volunteers arrived in the countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone for the world to take notice of Cuba’s exceptional effort. World leaders expressed their gratitude as international media picked up the story of this small country’s big hearted effort to combat the deadly disease.

You’re invited to come hear from Dr. José de Jesús Portilla, one of Cuba’s celebrated internationalist revolutionary doctors about Cuba’s contribution to the battle against Ebola in West Africa as well as Cuba’s history of internationalist medical solidarity.

Evening will also feature live music:
MARIA LUISA MELENDEZ - Salvadorean musician, who will move the crowd with her beautiful songs
