Though the idea of police may seem commonplace to us today, modern forms of law enforcement have only been around for about 200 years.

There are many practical, real-world alternatives to policing that communities are experimenting with all over the world. From unarmed mediation to restorative justice to the decriminalization of nonviolent crimes, the possibilities are endless.

Join us for a casual discussion on police, their history, and what we can imagine living in a world without police may look like. Everyone is welcome.

This event is taking place on unceded Coast Salish Territories.

Accessibility Info: The venue is situated on the south side of Blood Alley Square. There are several cobblestones, but there is ramp access and it’s an open space once inside. There are fewer cobblestones to navigate coming from Abbott as opposed to Carrall. The washroom is not fully WC accessible, the doorway is about 27 inches wide.
