The Struggle for Justice in Ayotzinapa Continues 1 Year After the Atrocity Against 43 Innocent Students

September 26, 2015 will mark exactly one year since 43 students from the Ayotzinapa Rural Teachers' College were forcibly disappeared in Iguala, Guerrero, Mexico. On that evening, the municipal police of Iguala, attacked a bus full of students from Ayotzinapa as they were travelling to a protest. At the end of the night, 3 were dead and “the 43” were missing.
While the 43 students are still missing, across Mexico and around the world hundreds of thousands have joined the campaign demanding that the government of Mexico be held accountable for the missing students declaring: “Fue el estado” or “It was the state”. At the same time, the government of Mexico continues to try and sweep the issue under the rug, while hundreds of thousands of Mexicans have been murdered or disappeared and millions more live in desperate poverty.
Join Fire This Time Movement for Social Justice to discuss the important issue of the 43 missing students, and discuss questions such as:
- Why were the 43 students targeted in the first place?
- Why has their disappearance provoked such a passionate response in Mexico and around the world?
- What is the role of the governments of Mexico, the U.S. and Canada in the crisis?
- What should be the response of the international solidarity movement?

El 26 de septiembre de 2015 se cumplirá exactamente un año de que 43 estudiantes de la Escuala Rural de Profesores de Ayotzinapa desaparecieran por la fuerza en Iguala, Guerrero, México. Esa noche, le policía municipal de Iguala atacó un autobús lleno de estudiantes de Ayotzinapa, que viajaban hacia una protesta. Al final de la noche, tres había muerto y “los 43” estaban desaparecidos. Mientras los 43 estudiantes siguen desaparecidos, por todo México y el mundo, cientos de miles se han unido a la campaña para exigir que el gobierno de México se responsabilice por los estudiantes, declarando: “Fue el estado”. Al mismo tiempo, el gobierno mexicano sigue intentando ocultar el asunto, mientras cientos de miles de mexicanos han sido asesinados o desaparecidos y millones viven en la pobreza extrema.
Únase al Movimiento Fire This Time por la Justicia Social para discutir este importante asunto sobre los 43 estudiantes desaparecidos, y debatir preguntas como:
- ¿Por qué los 43 estudiantes fueron el objetivo?
- ¿Por qué su desaparición ha provocado una respuesta tan apasionada en México y en todo el mundo?
- ¿Cuál es el papel de los gobiernos de México, Estados Unidos y Canadá en la crisis?
