No Pipeline! Protest outside Enbridge’s Cocktail Party
In solidarity with communities fighting the Enbridge Pipeline from the
Tar Sands to the BC Coast

Tuesday Sept. 28th @ 6:30 pm
Meet at Carleton Lodge (under covered area), across from the Lululemon
Store.
Mountain Square (in Main Village at base of ski lifts)
Whistler, BC

RIDES FROM VANCOUVER TO WHISTLER:   If you able to provide or
require a ride from Vancouver to Whistler to join the protest
please contact us: hgrewal@canadians.org or 604 340 2455.  Rides
will be leaving from Vancouver at 3:00 pm from Safeway parking lot
at Broadway and Commercial (please RSVP if you need a ride and
arrive by 2:45).

Enbridge is attempting to drum up support with municipalities for their
controversial pipeline by hosting a cocktail reception during the Union
of BC Municipalities Annual General Meeting.

The Enbridge pipeline would carry tar sands crude oil from Alberta to
Kitimat and the coastal waters of BC.  The pipeline is estimated to
cross over 1000 rivers and streams and would result in tanker traffic
through the Douglas Channel putting the sensitive eco-system in
jeopardy. Much of the pipeline route, and the entire oil tanker route,
are through lands and waters where indigenous nations have never signed
treaties with Canada.

Indigenous communities have clearly said that they do not want this
pipeline through their territories.   People campaigning against
Enbridge are also standing in solidarity with indigenous people in
Alberta who are seeing their lands devastated from the development of
the Tar Sands, the most environmentally devastating project in human
history.  The Gateway Pipeline would infringe on the title and rights of
indigenous communities along the pipeline route, provide infrastructure
for the expansion of tar sands development and completely undermine any
attempts to address the climate crisis.
