Gentrification impacts communities the world over. In city after city, real estate and rising land values displace existing communities, only to be replaced by high-end condos, unaffordable stores, and poor-bashing organizations.
This conference will open a space for discussion of the role of police and courts in facilitating gentrification, analyze the relationship between art, philanthropy, and developers, and highlight Woodward’s and the Olympic Village as sites of struggle.
