Rally on International Day of Action Against Executions in Iran

Since January 1, 2011 98 prisoners were executed in Iran and thousands are on death row.

Protest against Death Sentence of Canadian - Iranian born Citizens, Sakineh Ashtiani,  Ayub and Mosleh, two young gay men & many political prisoners in Iran

On December 19th, 2010, the government of Iran introduced drastic measures to cut subsidies for basic means of life based on recommendations from International Monetary Fund. At the same time, to increase fear among people, the government has escalated the number of executions. As of

December 21, 2010 at least 65 prisoners were executed on political and other charges. From January 1st 2011, on average, every 8 hours, one person was executed by Islamic Regime in Iran.

Many more are on death row such as two Canadian-Iranian citizens, Youcef Nadarkhani ( a Christian Pastor) and Hamid Ghassemi-Shall. In addition Saeed Malekpour, Iranian born Canadian permanent resident, Sakineh Ashtiani, two young gay men, Ayub and Mosleh (20 & 21 year old), many workers and social activists and other political prisoners are on death row.

On January 29, 2011, we are rallying against Islamic Regime of Iran around the world in a day of action against torture and capital punishment. We are getting together to be the voice of those kept in dungeons of dictatorial government.

In Vancouver Canada, we will rally in front of Vancouver Art Gallery

at 2:00 p.m. to raise awareness and solidarity with people who are in

prisons or are executed.
