WAM! is an international community of journalists, media makers, artists and activists who collaborate to advance gender justice and promote women’s media participation, ownership and representation.
WAM! Vancouver’s first annual conference will launch the first WAM! chapter in Canada. Join us as we work to create a supportive network, share knowledge and build skills!
Speakers and workshop presenters will include journalists/activists Fatima Jaffer and Harsha Walia, as well as Tami Starlight from the Vancouver Media Co-op, among others.
Topics will include “The Media and Intersectionality: Why do we need WAM?,” “Overcoming Racism in the Media,” “How to Harness the Media for Social Justice Activism” and “Advertising’s Image of Women.”
Antigone Magazine will be offering an anti-oppression/intersectionality workshop to help media makers and activists incorporate anti-oppression in all aspects of their work.
The conference will also feature a lunchtime networking fair. Free tables are available for your publication or organization upon request.
WAM! Vancouver is offering an accessible and anti-oppressive event. Contact us to learn about our free childcare, travel stipends and wheelchair accessibility. View our accessibility statement here.

As the PAID editor of
As the PAID editor of Kinesis--which should have been a publication for ALL women-- Fatima Jaffer and her lackeys did nothing but bully and exploit the labour of volunteers.
Why is the women's movement in the shithole compared to two decades ago? Why are thousands of women (and their children) presently starving while privileged idiots like Jaffer claim to speak on their behalf?
Give us some honest answers.
