Critical interviews about the protest against the Torch Rally Kick off in Victoria with few participants : Marc, Isabelle, Jeannette and Wednesday. Beyond that, they talk about their point of view about the state of the resistance against the 2010 Olympics, the lack of creativity in tactics and strategies, of rage and of effectiveness. These thoughts are very inspiring to rethink how we act and how we can increase the disruption of the Olympics and of the system and go further. We will also listen to few songs like Strange Ways from Madvillain, No2010 from Chronic Vibe (myspace.com/chronicvibe), Sabotage and The Language of Brutality from Echolalia (http://www.myspace.com/echolaliaband) and other independant music.

YouTube unmasks police gone bad
I have never been more embarrassed to be a Canadian: "OTTAWA – Protesters are accusing police of using undercover agents to provoke violent confrontations at the North American leaders' summit in Montebello,...

    * August 20 - August 21, 2007 - Montebello, Quebec, Canada

    "The leaders of the U.S., Canada and Mexico had a major trilateral summit meeting, in relation to the SPP, at the Château Montebello, in Montebello, Quebec.[7] This conference was described as a public relations event with the purpose of promoting the SPP among investors and to reassure the public about the consequences of the plan. A protest during the event led to controversy, when labour leaders identified three masked, rock-wielding individuals as disguised police officers and accused them of disguising themselves as demonstrators in order to incite violence. Footage of the clash was shown on Youtube and attracted significant media attention; the Quebec Provincial Police subsequently admitted that the individuals in question had been police officers in disguise, but denied any attempts to incite violence. A Manifesto of ideas...

There is quite a simple answer to this problem of the “elected” demigods of the unholy mess that we call government, simply everyone make signs stating their opinion regarding the Olympics and march en mass in the streets whether or not they be visible on main roadways or community streets, disrupt traffic (ala the Caledonian situation in Ontario), maybe through some impromptu Anti-Olympic block parties with advance notice to the new outlets (see how local outlets come, they might be too scared to report on it), post on blogs, letters to the editor, and post recordings on YouTube, etcetera. Invite the foreign news media to also cover these events. Expose these incompetent, kowtowing, sycophants for what they are.

At all times, ensure that the protest and gatherings are peaceful. If a police presence makes an appearance, do not resist arrest, but do not give up your stand. The more protests, the more likely the authorities will back down. If the authorities do not back down, clog up the courts with each individual case citing the constitutional rights to;

1. freedom of conscience and religion;
2. freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
3. freedom of peaceful assembly; and
4. freedom of association.

This idiotic government decree from on high is definitely heavy handed and without merit or justification for restricting these inherent rights. This is no state of war or other natural disaster (economic disaster is generally part and parcel of host the games) that would stand up in a reasonable court.

Secondly, after winning in court, sue the ass of the architects of these type decisions personally for gross misconduct, dereliction of duty, and false arrest.

The world is watching!By introducing the “big club” of the law with punitive fines and threatened jail time while stripping individuals of their charter rights is the issue and is a morally bankrupt perversion of democracy. This cannot be allowed.
The Senate doesn't create laws. In simple terms (it's the only way to educate you), the House of Commons introduces legislation, it passes to the Senate for a sober review of the law and then it's passed back to the House of Commons for a final vote. If it is passed, it is sent to the Governor General for Royal Ascent.Actually, if you did further reading, you'd realize this is Aldous Huxley's predicted Brave New World future, not George Orwell's 1984.

Here's six different degrees of separation...

1) Orwell feared government would ban books. Huxley feared there would be no reason to buy a book because nobody would want to read one...Turn on the TV, plug in the iPod, surf the net. What's a book? Point: Huxley

2) Orwell feared the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Quick test: What is Canada's GDP? Does Paris Hilton wear underpants? I already know how 97% of you answered. Point: Huxley

3) Orwell feared we would be deprived of information. Huxley feared corporations who would give us so much we would be reduced to passivity and egotism. Look at us... Ads directing us to buy stuff we don't need with money we don't have in order to impress people we don't like. Point: Huxley

4) Orwell feared we'd become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture. Seen last weeks top ten TV shows? Point: Huxley

5) Orwell feared we'd be controlled by inflicting pain. Huxley feared we'd be controlled by inflicting pleasure...So how do you spend your spare time?Online porn? online gambling? online dating? or just online?Point: Huxley

6) Orwell believed that the things we hate would ruin us. Huxley believed that the things we love would ruin us. McDonalds food will kill more of us this year than all the terrorist organizations combined. And McDonalds is the official food of the Olympics.

Advantage: Huxley. As the little boy said, "O, Brave New World..."
