Say No to Geoff Meggs

Picket at NDP Riding Nomination Vote

1:00pm
- 2:00pm
Dimanche Octobre 21 2012

Venue: Holiday Inn
Address: 711 West Broadway at Heather Street
Cost: Free
Accessibility: Yes – public sidewalk

It is do or die tomorrow.

This is the last chance to tell NDP voters that we do NOT want Geoff Meggs to represent ANYBODY in Victoria. The NDP nomination election is Sunday afternoon, October 21 at 1 PM, when party members will decide on their candidate for Vancouver Fairview. It's Geoff Meggs versus George Heyman, and it is going to be a tight race.

By picketing the election, we may be able to alert enough voters that Meggs is a liability for the NDP and Adrian Dix. He's now simply not electable in ANY neighbourhood of Vancouver. If the NDP wants to win this riding, they are far better off with George Heyman.

Meet at the Holiday Inn
at 711 West Broadway at Heather Street
two blocks west of Cambie
1:00 PM until 2:00 PM

You've read about these pickets in the Courier, the Geogia Straight, the Vancouver Media Coop, and on Twitter. It's time to join in.

Whether it's public land, public airspace, public housing, public transit, or even public decency, Meggs's neo-liberal policies have put everything up for sale. Little Mountain Housing and Heather Place, both successful public housing developments in or adjacent to the riding, are slated for private redevelopment for luxury condos.

Meggs can only do more damage in Victoria where he'll be put in charge of more public housing and more public money. Vancouver's neighbourhoods will no doubt vote him out of public office in 2014.

We have dozens of signs made already, plus some fat markers and blank canvasses.

Come join us in a great cause, and stay for a beer or coffee afterwards.

Get the word out to your networks, especially from the historic Stands for Housing and the residents associations that just saw half the city rezoned for high-density development.

Help hold our City Council accountable for their actions.
