This evening will feature a workshop with Comrade Black on effective prisoner support, and will also offer up free letter writing materials and zines and such on the prison industrial complex, information on the Anarchist Black Cross, and a bit of delicious vegan food (please get in touch with any dietary restrictions, we'll try to accommodate you)! We're also hoping there will be some information on a comrade who has just been stolen away from us by the state, and there will be a chance to her an update on their case.
This discussion-‐based workshop will draw both on lessons learned from firsthand experience doing prisoner support, as well as taking guidance from prisoners themselves in how to best support them. Asking the question "what is prisoner support and how can we be more effective in it?" The reality is supporting prisoners can be quite easy, and it is truly important work in a movement where we are being constantly criminalized. This workshop seeks to help people navigate their way into being an effective ally to those behind bars.
Comrade Black is a green anarchist who has done support work and correspondence with prisoners across Turtle Island, including; Nyki Kish, Kelly Pflug-‐Back, Walter Bond, and Fran Thompson.
