Spartacus Grand Re-Opening and Reno Fundraiser!
Saturday July 12th
10AM-1PM
3378 Findlay St, across from 18th and Commercial
Occupying Coast Salish Territories

Spartacus has just moved to a lovely and spacious new location at Findlay St and Commercial, near Trout Lake and Victoria Division. We want to invite you to join us in a participatory celebration to warm up the new space and raise money for our planned renovation to make the shop fully wheelchair accessible.

There will be a bakesale with breakfast foods and other delicious items, coffee, a lemonade stand, facepainting, an open musical jam, a Spartacus info table highlighting ways to get involved, cheap books and more!

You'll have a chance to get to know your neighbours and folks from all over - including us, the Spartacus Collective - and to check out all we have to offer!

We have some toys and children's books on hand and we would love to have people of all ages at this mid-day event.

How can you participate and/or help out with the event?!

- Just show up!
- Bring baked goods to donate to the sale!
- Bring instruments, or come prepared to play those we'll have on hand!
- Bring suggestions, including favourite book titles we should bring in for our shelves!
- Consider signing up for a membership, or for a monthly donation plan!
- Help us reach our funding goals if you can - in support of radical accessibility!
- Pick up a volunteer application form and consider joining our collective!
- Learn about who we are and what we do!
- And come hungry!

Why a bathroom renovation?

Spartacus is not just a bookshop, but a social space dedicated to accessibility in as many ways as possible. We are not perfect at this, and we know that accessibility is about more than just physical space; that said, we're always learning and trying what we can. We know that in Vancouver there are very few hang-out/meeting/event locations that can accommodate folks in wheelchairs and scooters, and this really impacts the ability of people to participate in movements and cultural creation.

Our new space is big and lovely, with the main barrier to mobile accessibility being a small bathroom. With your help, this barrier can be easily overcome. If you have skills or knowledge that could support our goals for radical accessibility we would love your help, and welcome feedback at any time.
