The Social Housing Alliance invites you to join us to stand with communities throughout south-western British Columbia and declare: WE HAVE A RIGHT TO LIVE IN OUR CITIES!

The Town Hall Rally will launch the Housing Action Plan for Cities and kick off our actions around the 2014 BC municipal election.

There are people living on the streets of every city and town on the unceded Indigenous territories called British Columbia. Whose responsibility is it to end this homelessness? To stop evictions? To make rent affordable for low-income renters? To end the housing crisis that is specific to every place but a problem everywhere?

In this year's civic elections, city politicians will tell us it's certainly not their responsibility. They will pass the buck to the province and the feds.

They will be wrong. Ending homelessness and the housing and displacement crisis is our responsibility, all of ours: from grassroots communities to city hall, right up to the Prime Minister's office.

Come to the townhall rally to launch a Housing Action Plan for Cities that outlines what cities can and must do to end the housing and homelessness crisis, and to mobilize our communities to interrupt the business-as-usual municipal election, demanding immediate action to end homelessness.

Stay tuned for speakers and groups participating in the town hall and mobilizations.
