Come out for an open-ended discussion about the intersections of feminism and anarchism.
***Feminism is the diverse collection of movements and ideologies that focus on gender equality and freedom from sexist oppression. Anarchism brings to gender struggle certain principles (e.g. opposition to all forms of domination: gender, race, class, etc.) and tactics (e.g. direct action rather than appeals to power) to produce a feminism that is simultaneously about empowerment for the unique individual as well as social revolution.***
Bring to the discussion your thoughts on:
-anti-oppression and safer spaces
-sexist, queerphobic b.s. within anarchism
-creating space for empowerment
-the possibilities and limitations of identity politics
-not letting sexism control you in a sexist world
-feminist actions and projects; past, present and future.
People of all genders and any level of familiarity with anarchism are welcome to attend and contribute to this event.
38 Blood Alley Square is an anarchist social space. Come early and stay late to meet likeminded people, check out the library, discuss ideas, and learn about anarchist projects going on in the city.
