This event will take place on the traditional and unceded territories of the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and the Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.

On November 3, 2017 Canada’s Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland announced sanctions against 52 Venezuelan officials, under the “Justice for Victims of Corrupt Foreign Officials Act.” These new sanctions strengthen sanctions implemented by the government of Canada in September. The US also added 10 more people to their sanctions list, even targeting the person in charge of one of Venezuela’s main food distribution programs. 

These sanctions are in violation of international law, as well as the self-determination and sovereignty of the people of Venezuela and the democratically elected government of President Nicolas Maduro. The government of the US, joined by the government of Canada and other imperialist allies, is implementing sanctions as part of their strategy to overthrow the government of President Maduro.

As people in Canada, we must unite to demand an end to the government of Canada’s sanctions and threats against Venezuela! Join the Fire This Time Movement for Social Justice Venezuela Solidarity Campaign in Vancouver on Friday, December 8 to demand:

Este evento tendrá lugar en los territorios tradicionales del los naciones Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm) y Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh)

El 3 de noviembre de 2017, la Ministra de Relaciones Exteriores de Canadá, Chrystia Freeland, anunció sanciones contra 52 funcionarios venezolanos, bajo la “Ley de Justicia para Víctimas de Funcionarios Extranjeros Corruptos”. Estas nuevas sanciones fortalecen las sanciones implementadas por el gobierno de Canadá en septiembre. Estados Unidos también agregó 10 personas más a su lista de sanciones, incluso apuntando a la persona a cargo de uno de los principales programas de distribución de alimentos de Venezuela.

Estas sanciones violan el derecho internacional, la autodeterminación y la soberanía del pueblo de Venezuela y el gobierno democráticamente elegido del presidente Nicolás Maduro. El gobierno de los EE. UU., junto con el gobierno de Canadá y otros aliados imperialistas, está implementando sanciones como parte de su estrategia para derrocar al gobierno del presidente Maduro.

Como personas en Canadá, debemos unirnos para exigir el fin de las sanciones y amenazas del gobierno de Canadá contra Venezuela. Únase a la Campaña de Solidaridad con Venezuela de “Fire This Time” Movimiento para Justicia Social en Vancouver el viernes 8 de diciembre para exigir:
