This event will take place on the traditional and unceded territories of the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and the Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.

This week, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is in Latin America – and promoting “regime change” in Venezuela is high on his agenda. In fact, the tour began with Tillerson proclaiming, “President Maduro could choose to just leave…If the kitchen gets a little too hot for him, I'm sure that he's got some friends over in Cuba that can give him a nice hacienda on the beach, and he can have a nice life over there.” 

This gross disrespect for the right of the people of Venezuela to determine their own government is further expressed by the fact that the governments of the United States and Canada have declared that they will not recognize the results of the upcoming Presidential elections in Venezuela, which are scheduled to take place before April 30, 2018. Unbelievably hypocritical, given the fact that Presidential elections are what the U.S. government and their imperialist allies have been demanding of Venezuela all along!

As the governments of the U.S. and Canada ramp up their campaign of threats, sanctions and intervention in Venezuela, we must unite in the streets in defense of the sovereignty and self-determination of the people of Venezuela. Join the Fire This Time Movement for Social Justice Venezuela Solidarity Campaign in Vancouver on Friday, February 9 to demand:

Este evento tendrá lugar en los territorios tradicionales del los naciones Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm) y Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh)

Esta semana, el Secretario de Estado de los EE.UU., Rex Tillerson, se encuentra en América Latina, y promover el "cambio de régimen" en Venezuela ocupa un lugar prioritario en su agenda. De hecho, la gira comenzó con Tillerson proclamando: "El presidente Maduro podría optar por irse ... Si la cocina se pone demasiado caliente para él, estoy seguro de que tiene algunos amigos en Cuba que pueden darle una linda hacienda en la playa, y él puede tener una vida agradable allí ".

Estas palabras son groseramente irrespetuosas del derecho del pueblo de Venezuela a determinar su propio gobierno. Esto se expresa además por el hecho de que los gobiernos de los Estados Unidos y Canadá han declarado que no reconocerán los resultados de las próximas elecciones presidenciales en Venezuela, que están programadas para antes del 30 de abril de 2018. Increíblemente hipócritas, dado el ¡hecho de que las elecciones presidenciales son lo que el gobierno de EE.UU. y sus aliados imperialistas han estado exigiendo a Venezuela todo el tiempo!

A medida que los gobiernos de EE. UU. Y Canadá intensifiquen su campaña de amenazas, sanciones e intervención en Venezuela, debemos unirnos en las calles en defensa de la soberanía y la autodeterminación del pueblo de Venezuela. Únase a la Campaña de Solidaridad con Venezuela del movimiento para justicia social Fire This Time el viernes 9 de febrero para exigir:
