Gather at noon at Portal Park (corner of Thurlow & W. Hastings) to hear speakers explain who Leonard Peltier is to them and why it is important to join in solidarity for his freedom. Join Elders for prayers for Leonard.

Leonard was and is a leader and advocate for his people and has inspired people globally with his words, his courage, his strength and wisdom.

On February 6, 1976, Leonard Peltier, citizen of the Anishinabe and Lakota Nations, was apprehended in Canada and extradited to the U.S. for a murder trial that was manipulated by the F.B.I.

Charges were unfounded, evidence was tampered, witnesses were detained and terrorized by F.B.I. agents and Leonard Peltier was sentenced to two consecutive life terms for murders he did not commit.

Learn more about the history of Leonard Peltier, the circumstances that led up to the shootings on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Such history must not be forgotten until justice is served.
