Climate Crisis Spectres to Haunt Richmond LNG Environmental Assessment:
Group say expansion is a fracking climate crime
When: Thursday December 3 2015 4 - 6 pm
What: Photo & Interview Opportunity – Giant puppets representing the threat fossil fuel expansion poses to humanity will accompany residents protesting the Tilbury LNG environmental assessment open house.
Where: Holiday Inn Express – 10688 No. 6 Road Richmond BC
Why: The climate crisis is the defining ethical and economic issue of our time, but the present federal / provincial Environmental Assessment ignores the need to rapidly transition off fossil fuels. Meeting even BC’s inadequate carbon pollution reduction laws requires a halt to fossil fuel expansion.
Who: Members and supporters of 350Vancouver – A Metro Vancouver climate justice group run entirely by volunteers
“Pressuring politicians to take decisive action in Paris is important, but stopping climate crimes in our own backyards is even more important,” says Bob Ages, a 350Vancouver member from Delta.
“LNG has about the same carbon footprint as coal,” says Eric Doherty of 350Vancouver. “Both federal and provincial environmental assessments are based on climate denial.”
