Grassroots Climate Activists, Unions, and First Nations Leaders to Demonstrate Outside First Ministers Climate Plan Summit:
When: Thursday March 3rd, 4:30 pm.
(Spokespeople will be available on site for interviews starting at 4pm)
What: Peoples Assembly outside of the federal / provincial First Ministers National Climate Strategy meeting.
Why: Prime Minister Trudeau urged people to "take an active part in" ensuring the success of the Paris Climate Agreement. We demand a bold climate strategy that creates just jobs, respects the rights of indigenous people, and tackles the climate crisis head on.

Vancouver Convention Centre West Building -
Outside main entrance: East side.
Who: Organized by grassroots Climate Convergence, speakers/spokespeople from Union of BC Indian Chiefs, LeadNow, UBC 350 and more
Photo and Video Opportunities:
Hundreds outside of the conference centre, Organizers intend to deliver a LeadNow petition signed by over 14,740 names, and a scroll with handwritten letters with demands from local communities, large scale art installations.
“We are here to demand climate justice from Justin Trudeau and Catherine McKenna, to implement a swift and just transition to a low-carbon economy, and to respect the rights of indigenous people.” said Mary Lovell, community organizer. “If this government is going to meet commitments like a 1.5 C climate limit, they have to take swift concrete action in and keep known fossil fuel reserves in the ground.”
