DOWNTOWN EASTSIDE - Thousands took to the streets in Vancouver today to honour murdered and missing Aboriginal women. The 25th annual Women's Memorial March wound its way through the Downtown Eastside, stopping at sites related to missing and murdered women.

Marchers and speakers demanded action on a national inquiry into the crisis that has seen as many as 2,000 women disappeared across the country.  Communities and cities across Canada held similar marches today.

So far the federal government has refused to initiate any inquiry. For more details and background see Warrior Publications' news report .
