On February 26, 2013 the Surrey Citizens Transportation Initiative (Surrey CiTI) organized a rally to demand increased funding for public transit in Surrey and throughout the region.
The mainstream media mostly focused on Mayor Dianne Watts’ expected statements about service cuts being unacceptable. Instead, this video covers the community activists, union members, students and others who spoke about how essential increased transit funding and service is.
Speakers include:
Steve Burke, rally organizer, Surrey Citizens Transportation Initiative (Surrey CiTi)
Don MacLeod, CAW 111
Art Kube, Council of Senior Citizens Organizations BC
Mark Beeching, Handy Dart driver
Richard Hosein, students of colour constituency representative at the Kwantlen Student Association (KSA)
Tim Yzerman HUB – Your Cycling Connection, Surrey, White Rock, North Delta
