Groups to Make Some Fracking Noise at LNG in BC conference in call for clean energy and protection of wild salmon
VANCOUVER - The Petronas LNG project, one of the front-running proposals in B.C. and slated for Lelu Island in the Skeena river estuary, threatens to decimate the second largest wild salmon run in B.C. Impacted Indigenous groups have not given consent to these projects. At a demonstration tomorrow, representatives of the Luutkudziiwus House Group of the Gitxsan Nation, who have been opposing fracked gas pipeline construction on their territory, and Lax Kw’alaams members, who have been occupying their Lelu Island territory against the Petronas LNG project, will speak about the impacts.
“Our Madii Lii territory is not to be played with by the province of B.C. in their LNG game. Clark’s LNG dream is a nightmare for us,” says Hereditary Chief Luutkudziiwus (Charlie Wright).
