Saturday, May 29, 3:30pm - 6pm: Co-op Radio programmer policy training. Next one is this Sat May 29th from 3:30-6:00pm at 360 Columbia Street (just north of Hastings). It's a good introduction to CRTC regulations and station guidelines, among other things. FYI training sessions at Coop cost $10 bucks, but the VMC can cover costs for folks that want to help us out with our slot on Co-op radio this summer (details below).
Wednesday, June 2, 6:30pm - 8pm: Intro to print journalism with Dawn Paley. VMC Radio this summer
Just a reminder that VMC peeps have been invited to participate in the Sound Resistance/Pedal Revolutionary radio collective for the summer (starting June 11). There is room for you to try different things, it's not limited to talking into the mic (e.g. there's also operating the board, speaking on air, doing interviews, writing material for radio, prerecording/editing goodies for broadcast, etc).
The time slot is Friday mornings from 10:30am to noon, but there are other ways to contribute if that time doesn't work for you. You could research/write material, use the auxiliary studio to do prerecording/editing, etc.
So if you're interested in getting any programming experience this summer, you'll first need to come out to the Co-op Radio programmer policy training. Next one is this Sat May 29th from 3:30-6:00pm at 360 Columbia Street (just north of Hastings). It's a good introduction to CRTC regulations and station guidelines, among other things. FYI training sessions at Coop cost $10 bucks.
After that you will be able to take the hands-on control room training if you want to get some technical skills; there are some in June. We'll find opportunities for you to get on-air practice running the board for those who are interested.
Feel free to email pedalrevolutionary {AT} gmail {D0T} com if you have any questions!
