Coalition for Migrant Workers Justice launches Statement of Unity

Regulations introduced by the federal government came into force on April 1, 2011 essentially denying the opportunity of applying for Permanent Residency status to temporary migrant workers by restricting them to working four years in Canada and barring them from returning to the country for four years.

The Coalition for Migrant Workers Justice (C4MWJ) successfully organized a media conference on April 18, 2011 to launch our Statement of Concerns on Migrant Workers in Canada, and also to invite individuals and organizations to express their solidarity with migrant workers in BC and elsewhere in Canada.

We invite national, provincial and local organizations to add their names to those who already have endorsed our statement of unity on our concerns and our proposed actions on justice for migrant workers.

By endorsing the Statement you will be helping C4MWJ advocate with and for migrant workers for social justice and human rights changes to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).  These changes need to be implemented by federal, provincial, and municipal governments --- but first we need to begin by acting at home and at our own communities.

COALITION FOR MIGRANT WORKERS JUSTICE in CANADA.

C4MWJ is an all-volunteer network of individuals and organizations advocating with and for migrant workers justice in British Columbia, Canada and elsewhere. Members of C4MWJ are working to push the provincial, federal, and municipal government for dignity and for protections for migrant workers.
