Members of the Downtown Eastside (DTES) Power of Women Group offered their support to the VanAct housing occupation of Olympic Village on July 16th, 2010. Included here are pictures of Beatrice Starr and Kanaska Carter who spoke to media about their experiences living in the DTES as underhoused and homeless women, the false and empty promises of all levels of government about housing, and the need for immediate action given the ongoing crisis of poverty in the DTES.
