COAST SALISH TERRITORY - Idle No More supporters filled CBC Plaza in downtown Vancouver this afternoon.

The peaceful rally came as fellow INM protesters reportedly blocked the main rail line between Montreal and Toronto and others held rallies in Victoria, Prince Rupert and sites accross the continent.

Speakers in Vancouver vowed continued support for Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence, now on Day 20 of her hunger strike.  Prime Minister Stephen Harper refuses to talk to Spence and other First Nations leaders about Bill C-45 and other issues.

Conservative Party mouthpiece, the always ignorant Christie Blatchford, wrote in the National Post this week that  "now, of course, Chief Spence has parked herself on an island in the Ottawa River, is on Day 17 of a hunger strike, and all around her, the inevitable cycle of hideous puffery and horse manure that usually accompanies native protests swirls.

"Already, there is much talk of smudging ceremonies, tobacco offerings, the inherent aboriginal love for and superior understanding of the land, and treaties that were expected to be in place “as long as the sun shines, the grass grows and the river flows.”
