COAST SALISH TERRITORY - The Indigenous Action Movement held a peaceful protest today outside the main Vancouver City library. The event was billed as a united stand against police abuse and featured demonstrators holding photos of indigenous people brutalized, tortured and murdered by police. The organizers said they met their goals for today and "Hychka to Curtis Clearsky for strong words & motivational verse! and to Glen C. Williams for your song, Steven Standing Wolfpaw Kakinoosit for good words for the people, Kelvin Bee for good teachings, Loretta John for your prayer & to beautiful allies who shared your concern for our people."

Kat Norris told the crowd:  "It's so important that we show that we will not accept mistreatment, and assaults of our people, by those who are paid to serve and protect. It's just got to stop! If we sit idly by, and not use our voices, that were taken away from us, through the reservation and residential school system, we allow the abuses to continue.

"We are strong together, we can uses our voices today, for the good of all our people, and for the future generations: for our children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, grandparents, friends and more."
