COAST SALISH TERRITORY - Neighbours from across Vancouver converged on City Hall today to press for meaningful consultation from the Vision Mayor and  Council.

While the majority of signs at the afternoon march and rally were from Marpole, the Downtown Eastside, Dunbar, Grandview Woodlands, Kits, the West End and other neighbourhoods were also represented in the crowd. Most demanded accountability and more respect from Vision.

The two-hour rally comes before tomorrow's Council "debate" over community plans for the neighbourhoods.  Resident groups and members say they are being railroaded on development plans and are expected to come out strongly against the City's lack of consultation, bullying and focus on massive highrise condo projects on behalf of Vision's funders.

Speakers today vowed to speak out tomorrow on their neighbourhood's growing frustrations about the Community Plans and the City's heavy-handed approach to planning.
