About 1,000 people joined an emergency rally in downtown Vancouver Friday to show solidarity and support for the Elsipogtog and Mi'kmaq anti fracking blockade.
Speakers Khelsilem Rivers, Ruben George and Jewell James connected the Elsipogtog blockade to the global movement for climate justice and related struggles against fossil fuel projects on both sides of the 49th parallel.
RCMP, including those in riot gear, snipers and attack dogs descended on the peaceful Mi’kmaq anti-fracking blockade a day earlier.
