Fresh off the release of “Rebel” (the first song to come out of Egypt since the revolution), Egyptian rap group,
Arabian Knightz, are back again with “Not Your Prisoner”, the first release off their debut album “Uknighted State of Arabia”. As the revolution continues, the Arabian Knightz have vowed to be steadfast in delivering the voice of the Egyptian people to the World.
“Not Your Prisoner” features Palestinian/U.K.-based female emcee, Shadia Mansour, and live guitar parts played by platinum West Coast super-producer, Fred Wreck. Fred Wreck, also lends his platinum touch to the mixing duties with the production handled by, DJ Caz.
Also, included is a video for “Not Your Prisoner” which contains eye-opening, real life footage/imagery from the Egyptian revolution currently taking place.
“Not Your Prisoner” features lyrics in both Arabic and English.
The chorus can be translated into English as:
“I want my nation
Free from all oppression
I want my nation
Free from all evil
I want my nation
Free from all injustice
I want my land and the land of the Arabs!”
In the midst of Revolution, Egyptian rap group, Arabian Knightz, released the first song to come out of Egypt since the revolution and complete internet/communications blackout. The song titled, “Rebel”, is produced by, Iron Curtain, and features a sample of Lauryn Hill on the hook. “Rebel” was recorded right in the middle of the Revolution and subsequently is being released on the first day of restored internet services.
Due, to the uncertainty of the communications situation in Egypt right now, Arabian Knightz have opted to release the raw, unmixed track because they need the world to hear their message. As of right now, they are the voice for the people of Egypt.
Arabian Knightz, is a Cairo-based rap outfit, comprised of emcees: Rush, Sphinx, & E-Money. They record music with both Arabic & English lyrics.
“Rebel” is an emotionally empowering song that captures the heart, courage & spirit of the Egyptian people currently embattled in a Revolution against an oppressive leadership.
Arabian Knightz will be performing “Not Your Prisoner” live in Tahrir Square, Egypt, next Tuesday. Tahrir Square has been the epicenter and main rallying point for protesters involved in the Egyptian revolution. It has been a site of constant conflict since the January 25th start of the Revolution.
