Ever since the Cuban Revolution overthrew the US backed dictator Fulgencio Batista in 1959, it has been an example for oppressed people worldwide. Led by Fidel Castro as well as Raul Castro and Ernesto Che Guevara, not only has Cuba managed to defend its independence against over 50 years of constant U.S. attacks, it has combined huge gains in healthcare, education, science, human rights and democracy with a constant example of solidarity and revolutionary socialist internationalism.

For the last ten years, the Fire This Time newspaper has continued to reflect the battle of ideas that is shaping the political, economic and social fabrics of our society worldwide. With the perspective that, “Every international fight is local and every local fight is international,” we have continually highlighted the fightback of working and oppressed people against cutbacks and austerity, war and occupation, and environmental degradation. This has included a special focus on Latin-America, especially the leadership of the revolutionary socialist government of Cuba.

Join Fire This Time and revolutionary speakers from Cuba, Venezuela and the U.S. to discuss and celebrate the gains and confront the challenges of building a better world together!
