Greenpeace divided on Boreal Forest Agreement

Greenpeace and eight ENGOS celebrate the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement with representatives of logging companies in Toronto on May 18, 2010.
A leaked discussion between Greenpeace staff obtained by the Vancouver Media Co-op indicates the group is preparing damage control related to the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement, which was announced on May 18.
Some staffers appear unsure as to the merits of the high profile release, particularly with regards to having left Indigenous groups out of the early decision making process.

Disappointed
I am disappointed the co-op has chosen to post something like this.
Perhaps the writer is ignorant as to how large groups work and misunderstands the purpose of post-even debriefs, which is what this conference call clearly is.
We should be applauding Greenpeace for taking time to actively seek out and identify any error they may have made during the construction of the agreement. This is a completely healthy discussion for an organization to be having and this attempt to construe it as something negative is disingenuous.
Are you really trying to criticize Greenpeace for 1) having internal debate and 2) having differing opinions within the organization and attempting to resolve them?
This article does a disservice to anyone working in the ENGO movement.

Better yet stop acting like children trying to sit at the adult table. The adults sitting there are capitalists; yes you have to grow up sometime and understand that your partners are capitalists. Your program of environmental vanguardism is going to fail because them greedy m'fuckers don't want partners.
Internal debate is not at
Internal debate is not at issue. No one would be interested in uncovering this now, had there been some debate with grassroots and Indigenous communities prior to entering into an agreement that concerns them so directly. It was only the secretive nature of this negotiation that got folks outing them after the fact. Now everyone wants to open those closed doors.
