- Downtown Eastside community gardens are under threat and gardeners are fighting back. We speak with gardeners Len Kydd and Beth McLaren.
- To help combat the race to the bottom for cheap and not-nourishing foods prevalent in the neighbourhood, gourmet chef David Mendes brings his passion for fine and wholesome foods to the kitchen in the Downtown Eastside.

The Right to Food Podcast is released concurrently with the RTF Zine. Both are based at the Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood House.

The Servants of Hope Society is a faith based men’s recovery house located on the east side of Vancouver. Founded by Sean H. in 2004 with a vision of men helping men through servitude and the overcoming of addiction. As unconventional as it sounds there has been a very good success rate for the house.
 
The Servants of Hope is a non profit registered charitable organization that has been helping the people of Vancouver’s Downtown East Side for the past 8 years. Alongside hot meals and warm coats we serve up a sense of hope and a chance at a new life.

For the 7th year in a row, more than 100 recovering addicts from the greater Vancouver area get together and go into the Downtown Eastside to feed the homeless and do outreach. 
 
Bringing the message of Hope And Recovery to the Downtown Eastside. The success of the last 6 years of outreach involved over 100 people with minimal financial and material support. We were still able to feed and meet the needs of over 1000 people each year. The majority of the people involved with this cause have a history of substance abuse and a high percentage of those people came from the downtown eastside and are now free from their addictions and are productive members of society today. It is both a privilege and an honor for me and the people involved being able to give back to those in need during such a dark and lonely time.
