Northern Indigenous Communities Take the Airwaves

A Wet'suwet'en Nation reserve and the community of Fort Chipewayn have both established their own community radio stations. Both communities are at the forefront of Indigenous opposition to Tar Sands developments. Sakura Saunders has long helped community radio stations get established and she edits protestbarrick.net. She witnessed and took part in the establishment of both stations.

This interview was first broadcast on Worm's-Eye View: Grassroots News, on CJSF 90.1 FM. Worm's-Eye View brings alternative, community-oriented social justice programming to the Lower Mainland of BC. We are an open-volunteer space for student and community journalists to learn and grow.
