Denise Douglas of Cheam will be defending herself along with six others against the Department of Fisheries and Oceans charges of illegal fishing. She will be asserting that -The DFO cannot close the river
-They have inherent right to the fish,
-And, their title and land has never been ceded.
THEY ARE SOVEREIGN!
Court will be in Chilliwack and we are requesting people who would like to attend and/or can offer car pools to contact supportcheam@gmail.com. Billeting will be provided at the Cheam Community Hall (twenty minutes from the court house) with daily meals by donation and evening information sharing and movie screenings.
We plan on having a lunch time demo on the 25th outside the court house to bring this struggle to the streets of Chilliwack.
For those wishing to stay in Cheam please bring a sleeping bag, plate, cup and utensils. The Community Hall will have mattresses, daily breakfast and dinner servings by donation, and shower/bathroom facilities. Go to www.supportcheam.wordpress.com for more info.
