(1) Eco Madness at Gallery Gachet
Gateway Sucks is excited to be participating in Gallery Gachet's ECO MADNESS!!! (HUMANS ARE KILLING THE PLANET AND I FEEL FINE) Festival. Drop by the screen-printing station at Salmon Insanity: Rock for Rivers on Saturday July 24 to make yourself a super sexy Gateway Sucks t-shirt (bring a blank shirt), then wear that puppy to the closing night dance party feat. Gateway Sucks Saturday July 31! Gallery Gachet is at 88 East Cordova Street in Vancouver.
(2) Sand for Shirley
Shirley Bond – the BC Transportation Minister still new to her portfolio – has given the impression she may not be entirely familiar with the South Fraser Freeway, having recently referred to it as the 'Simon Fraser' Perimeter Road. The brand new Sand for Shirley campaign is aiming to make her fully aware of this controversial project and why it should be cancelled. Check out the campaign launch at International Bog Day this Sunday July 25, and watch this page for an updated list of events where you can find the campaign and send sand to Shirley.
(3) Dig in for Climate Justice!
Save the date – this is gonna be big! On October 10, 2010 as part of the 10/10/10 Global Work Party people around the world will be working on thousands of hands-on projects to shift humanity off the path towards run-away global warming. In greater Vancouver, we will get to work stopping a deliberate climate crime – the South Fraser Freeway. Will your organization endorse this action, and help us make it a success? Details and contact info here. Get ready to get your work gloves on!
(4) Justice for Climate Refugees!
The federal Imigration Minister, Jason Kenny, has been aggressively denying legitimate refugee cases including people fleeing conflicts exacerbated by global warming. GatewaySucks has endorsed the Saturday July 24 Peoples March Against Jason Kenney.
