This coming October 18th, the "Shame Train", the immense propaganda stunt of Canadian Pacific (CP Rail) seeking to promote the Vancouver 2010 Winter
Olympics, will end its cross-country trip in the old port of Montreal.

The so-called CP "Spirit Train" is an initiative which aims to "bring the spirit of the Olympic Games to all Canadians". However, since its creation, CP has been a main instrument of Euro-Canadian colonialism (the CP rail lines were, amongst other things, used to transport Canadian soldiers westward in order to violently squash the Metis and other aboriginal uprisings). It is not surprising that this colonialist company is today one of the main sponsors of the Vancouver Games, and is extolling the benefits of the Olympics from one end of the country to the other, without a care for the fact that the 2010 Olympics will be taking place on lands stolen from the first nations of Turtle Island.

According to Canadian law, BC has neither the legal nor moral right to exist, let alone claim land and govern over Native peoples. Despite this, and a fraudulent treaty process now underway, the government continues to sell, lease and 'develop' Native land for the benefit of corporations,
including mining, logging, oil & gas, and ski resorts. Meanwhile, Indigenous peoples suffer the highest rates of poverty, unemployment, imprisonment, police violence, disease, suicides, etc."
